    Hi all,

I know there's a fair few threads about similar topics but can't find anything to answer this question.

I read that the 2.0 engines were causing a lot more trouble than the 1.9 but just wondering if this still stands for newer models like around 2009/2010?

    Thanks,
    Tippog.

Simple answer is if the car is in tax band B no. Chances are the 09 model is ok..

    Thanks for the reply.

So '08 and older are the problematic ones?

Yes the very first of the new model had the first common rail engine which gave problems with the oil pump balance shaft allthough this can be sorted fairly reasonably.

Buy one of the newer ones if you are.

    the Audi A4 B7's had the problems the A4 B8's are fine. some 2008 are A4 B7's.

So by going 2009/2010 you'd be avoiding most of those common problems?

They are different model of car. its easy to tell a A4 B8 from A4 B7, lower tax and 120bhp engine and they look different.
A4 B8 is more fuel efficient too.
    you Could buy a 08 A4 B8 its the same as A 09 A4 B8.

Just looking at carzone there and it seems like all the '08 and '09s are tax band B.

Great thanks for that. I just assumed all the 2009 would be the B8s then. Seems like most used cars for sale aren't.
