Startup sequence on Worcester boiler

I have a fairly new Worcester gas boiler and noticed that every time it starts, it goes through a long process where it doesn't sound like it's going at full "throttle".

I looked up the manual and it says that this happens after the power has been interrupted to the boiler and the boiler will operate at minimum heat for about 15 minutes.

Is this meant to happen every time the boiler is switched on / every time the room thermostats kick in? It seems a bit strange that the boiler would take 15 minutes to start heating every time it fires up ?

when the boiler isnt heating is there a blue light on the front of the boiler ? or does it only appear when the boiler starts to heat /you turn it on ?

if its the second option ,ive come across this a few times when the installer has powered the wiring center instead of powering the boiler (permanent live )(switched live should power the wiring center )

the boiler only gets power when an external call for heat happens - this can play havoc with the boiler and you should get it wired correctly .

On the worchester (CDI) there is a system know as 'syphoning mode' where the boiler runs at very low input to produce lots of condensate water to prime the water trap. The only happens if permanent live is disrupted.

If this is whats going on all the time, call back you installer as they have not correctly electrically connected you boiler, and have only provided a switched live and not both a switched and permanent live as it requires, this also effects other functions such as pump overrun and frost protection (both not available without the permanent live)

Yes blue light only appears when boiler is heating. When the room thermostats reach operating temperature the controls panel remains on but the boiler itself is completely dead and the power lights switches off on the motorised valves.

Cheers I'm assuming pump overrun is the feature I read about in the manual that the pump keeps running for 30 seconds after the boiler had stopped firing.

Update. This is all sorted now. It's an awesome boiler when working correctly. Rads hot in 15 minutes.

I wasn't there but the guy claimed there was nothing wrong. I have no respect for people who can't just put their hands up and admit a mistake.
