Hi all, new poster here so please bare with me.

I left my 2005 Ford Focus 1.4 petrol (2nd model one) in for a diagnostics check with Ford as the engine management light came on intermittently.

They traced the problem back to a "resister/wire fault in the clock cluster", saying the clocks needed to be replaced.

But they’ve quoted me a crazy price to get it fixed:

    Diagnostics: €100, New Clocks: €476+VAT + Labour.

In total, I’ve been quoted around €730 to get this sorted.

    Does this sound right?

    Thanks all : )

Had an 02 focus for three years and the engine management light came on from time to time. Spoke to a mechanic at main dealer and he said it happened in many of them. Never did anything about it and never had any problems with the car. Your choice ;)

    Thanks all : )

Had an 02 focus and that light came on from time to time. Spoke to mechanic in main dealer when car being serviced and he said it happened in many of them but not to worry about it. Drove on for another 30 k and never had a problem. Your choice to fix it or ignore it ;)

    Price sounds about spot on.

That year Focus is notorious for the clocks packing up.

Slight thread high jack here, apologies o/p.

The clocks on my 06 Octavia are cracked. Well the plastic faced is cracked. Would it be possible to get an instrument cluster from a scrappy, and have them recoded to show the correct mileage?

    Cheers man.

The car was my old mans before I had it, so I know the mileage is correct.

Next step is to see can I get one with the Maxidot display. Perhaps a Multifunction Steering Wheel also.
