Anyone get the back to education allowance yet, I got mine at this time last year with book allowance but I've a feeling I'm still on jobseekers. All my paperwork was in on time and I was told that it was all sorted and I wouldn't need to sign on again.

    Im still waiting too,

Handed in the letter from the college a month ago.. just before i started

About two weeks ago i went down to see what was going on; they said itll take a few weeks to process, told me to keep collecting money at the post office, and told me that i dont need to sign on.

Sign on day was yesterday! Hoping I still get the cash next week! Wouldnt be suprised if they make a mistake and withhold it.

You still have to sign on apparently, every month but it just has to be at any stage that week rather than specific date and time so a small bit of give.
Also a fantastic piece of logic encountered today. If on btea you are no longer entitled to jobsbridge. Mine is an online course so I can work full time and get off social altogether, assuming I can get a job.
So I actually find an internship worth doing and in my field but , alas the social welfare crowd said I'm not able to do the internship because I'm on btea.
If I wasnt on btea and just regular jsb then I would be eligible for the internship.
I am baffled by this logic, it just doesn't make sense. I'm not surprised though which is a sad reflection on our system.
Can anyone make sense of that for me.

I would presume the reason you have to sign on every month is because you are doing an online course and not attending college. Tbh I dont know why you applied for BTEA as you could have continued on jsa while doing an online course once you were looking for and available for work and you could then have applied for an internship.

I was put on it automatically because its springboard. But it's not really btea apparently because I'm not entitled to it while on springboard, it's a faux btea to hide live register numbers with no benifits of btea and not eligible for internships or anything else but all the time being available for and actively seeking work. I'm just failing to see the logic or preventing me doing an internship while on a pretend btea. Then again I'm looking for logic in the social welfare system so it's mostly my fault.

Now I know why your signing every month. Unfortunately sw offices and staff have to follow the rules and this is one of them.

I recived it last year for an acess year and have handed in the forms in nearly two months ago, and less than a month ago spoke to someone in the dole office and told all my paperwork was sorted and I should recive it soon. I've already had to start missing classes just to make it to the post office before it closes and now I'll have to take the guts of a day off to go and get it sorted. Pain in the swiss!:(
