That'll be fun, if they decide to switch to T2 in the near future.

I think that would be a long time off, but a possibility, as most TV sets will eventually be DVB-T2 capable.

The news article you linked to is from August 2008. Was any T2 equipment even available then? Maybe the transmitter specs are more recent?

Well look at the actual transmitter details I linked to it states it quite clearly there. Remember the equipment was not delivered until some time after 2008.

The transmitters may be modular, so could be upgraded easily. Mux3 when launches might be T2.:)

Mind you that might be 2019.

This would make sense since DVB-T2 will become part of the Saorview certified spec from 2013. :)

T or T2 is a Modulator feature, a decent transmitter suitable for Digital terrestrial built even before DVB-T2 was mentioned can do it.

DVB-T2 is for far future in Ireland. The reason to have it in the spec now is to have minimum pain then. Which could be 5 to 10 years away and could be only for new Mux.

Agreed but the main reason for it is that it is required in other countries that are members of the Nordig Group. We may not need it yet, but they do.

This spec will continue to evolve, and we can take advantage of that by being ready when we need it.
