I am doing a bit of research on Free to air Satellite TV as I intend to get it.

Do any of you's have any experience with Satellite TV?
I live in Meath and already get BBC,ITV and Channel 4 so would I need to get a Satellite dish before the Switch Over next month as I already have them?

I didn't get the Saorview box yet!

What other channels can I get?

Also could I get Satellite Broadband using the Satellite TV dish 'out of interest'?

If you get the analogue UK channels via an aerial now you should continue to receive them (in digital) with the Irish Saorview channels after analogue switch off on Oct 24th with a Saorview receiver.

The digital channels from NI are broadcasting at low power until then but will increase after the analogue channels are switched off. Analogue BBC2 will be switched off in the early hours of Oct 10th and replaced with the full power BBC A Mux with all the BBC digital channels (the others go on Oct 24th), if you have a digital receiver by then this will be a good indicator for your future reception of the NI channels

No you do not need a dish

I would recommend travelling to Northern Ireland and getting a Freeview HD box. This will get you more channels than a Saorview box. Make sure the box is labelled HD
What other channels can I get?
    See here:
    http://www.freeview.co.uk/Channels
    along with the Irish channels

Scan the box when you get it, scan again on October 10th and again on 24th of October. After 24th of October you would get all channels available.
Also could I get Satellite Broadband using the Satellite TV dish 'out of interest'?

    Ask in the broadband section:

Basically no. Sat Broadband is insainly expensive and has terrible caps on what you can download. The speeds claimed do not usually realise on cheaper packages. It should only be a very, very last resort for rich people with no other option.
