    Can Someone please explain the diffrence between san shou / kickboxing / k1.

    Differences in rules and equipment needed please.

    The fundamental difference is that K1 is an organisation whereas the others are sports. That aside, as far as I know:

    I think that throws are allowed in Sanshou. Points are scored for effective strikes and throws/takedowns

    In K1 the traditional MT clinch is either forbidden or restricted to one blow in clinch and elbows are forbidden. Points are only give for effective strikes

    In MT you can clinch and strike from the clinch but I think that throws are forbidden (although done sometimes).

    I may be wrong though...

    In Thai, hip throws and hooking the leg are forbidden, manoeuvring them over your leg in clinch or even just picking them up and dumping them on the ground are all fine.
