    hi,

like i expect most people i dont have an ideal room setup for a home cinema 5.1. I have made a quick drawing of my room (i know it looks like it was made my a 4 year old). I would like some help with my speaker placement.

Where would you put the speakers and at what height. i would like to wall mount them. The Sofa is the main place we sit while watching movies

    (Please see attached pic)
I was thinking of Setup B and placing the speakers like this.

    1 Front right
    2 Front left
    4 Back Right
    3 Back Left
centre will be under the TV.
    sub beside tv

or do you thin this is better
    1 Front left
    4 Front right
    2 Back left
    3 Back Right
centre will be under the TV.
    sub beside tv

    Thanks for looking :)

Thanks for the reply mate. i realize that. But my room isn't square and i can't move the TV. So i'm stuck with the room i have....just wondering on the where you guys would place the speakers if it was your room.

I have a AV ordered... need to get speakers now (400 euro max)

Maybe i'll just have to wait and play around with moving front/back speakers

opps sorry didn't click on your sketch, unfortunately most living rooms and tv rooms are not square, would mounting the tv above the fire (i take it thats a chimney in the drawing) be an option?

    Yes it is :)

I'll have to ask the Missus about the TV mounting. Not sure where i would put my Sky box + XBMC media server then. maybe a cabinet at the side of the chimney.

would be the best setup and work a way to hide hide the cables.

    I would go with 1.

Put sub in the corner beside front left (2)

height should be ear level (when seated)
