Bootable Virus Scanners..

    Hi guys,

When I get PCs on my desk, I usually just pop the hard drive and then put it in my external drive bay, and scan the drive remotely using the AV scanner on my own PC... however, after fighting another hard drive away from it's case, only to find out it was IDE (and my new drive bay is SATA only), I'm looking at other options...

What are people's opinions on bootable virus scanner, whether USB or CD/DVD.. There's a lot of them around now.. http://www.squidoo.com/the-best-free-antivirus-rescue-cds ... Just wondering which one is the best, or what disadvantages did people find with them.

Kaspersky Rescue Disc is good, It's what I use as a starting point, I say starting point as usually after running bootable virus scanners you need to boot into Windows and run further tests (they get rid of the worst of the infection generally but not all). you could also get something like these which are quite handy :)

Why start yet another "What's the best Antivirus" thread? Just pack the lot of them into one bootable medium... ;)

    hah... :D

Looks like a cool idea though.. If you could bring any bootable CD/DVD that you need to do your job on one USB, that would be excellent.
