Question for anyone with experience or knowledge of these tests.

Is the main job the insertion of the needle /straw? What I mean is should the consultant be scanning and directing the needle via screen or actually directing the instrument with his/her own hands.

    thanks

we had this done last week in the Rotunda. The consultant did the insertion of the needle while looking at the ultrasound screen. His registar was doing the ultrasound for him. it's all over very quickly.

this link to an info sheet on cvs might be useful to you http://www.rotunda.ie/default.asp?p=gi3#osfetalassess

Many thanks Rockwell for the helpful response. Could you tell me if it was abdominal or vaginal and if Professor Malone was the consultant? Pm me if you'd prefer.

Thanks again for taking the time
