Updating the playroom - in desperate need of inspiration!

    Hello Everyone!

I need to update my six year old daughter's playroom as she has completely lost interest in it.

The room is 20 feet long and 13 feet wide, it currently resembles a pre-school, it has lots of educational charts on the walls, a blackboard, a bookcase with loads of books and there are toys everywhere. My daughter is in Senior Infants now and she no longer wants to be in the room anymore, perhaps it looks too much like a classroom :o

I want to update the room but I'm not sure how to proceed, her bedroom is full of pink princess stuff so I don't want her playroom to be the same.

I'm wondering if I should make the playroom more of a relaxing family room? Somewhere, to listen to music, read or play on the iPad/PC or Nintendo DS. My daughter loves the outdoors but when she is at home, she loves reading, music and looking up educational websites, she doesn't seem to be as interested in regular toys anymore.

I'd really be grateful for any suggestions or maybe some websites that I could check out.

    Many thanks in advance :)

Another option is do as you said and make it like a family room but a jazzed up one. have a look for ideas on ikea. lots of toy storage for now and when she's a bit older a place to hang around with teen friends. maybe even get a couple of those huge bean bags etc.

That playroom sounds like overkill to me. Any other kids for her to play with?

Pinterest is great for ideas as already mentioned...
Not really got any suggestions myself though, but definitely check out pinterest!

How about bringing her to Ikea and seeing what she likes?

we are in the process of doing our playroom up aswell. My daughter is also in SI - we have gotten her some oversized beanbags which she adores, we have also hooked up the Wii in the playroom , she loves music also so we have put in a little stereo - oh and we are getting chalkboard paint for part of one of the walls which I think I am more excited about than her:) We have also ordered lots of removable wall stickers to help brighten it up aswell.

I have a cot mattress and cushion area for flaking out in, mine. Like the bean bag. The kids will sit And chill on it.

I also pin their art work to the walls.

Storage units from ikea. And a large brightly coloured rug, as I have wooden floors.

We have a nice comfy sofa and tv in the room. And a massive book shelf to hold jigsaws books and toys
