Im in two minds about this.
I had a HR director in a previous company who now works in another.
Is there any harm in emailing a general job application to the HR Director or is it considered going over the head of HR generalists.

As long as all went well in the previous company, it could be a big help to you. A HR person would prefer to get in someone they know is realiable and be an asset to the new place. Often it's about who you know, when it comes to getting a job!
    Def go for it.
