Do I get my P45 back?

    Hi, if I send my P45 in to get emergency tax back do I get the P45 back again?

    No, because it will no longer be valid if you claim a refund of the tax recorded on it during an active tax year. Only send parts 2 and 3 to Revenue. Hold onto part 4 for the DSP.

    Then waht do I give to my next employer. It says not to separate section 3 and 4?

    If the p45 refers to this tax year (2012) and you have a new job lined up, then don't send it in to Revenue. Just give it to your new employer who will refund you the emergency tax in your wages if appropriate.

    If you don't have a job lined up and you want the emergency tax back, then send the p45 along with the form p50 to Revenue.

    When you subsequently get a job, call Revenue to register the new employment. Revenue then send a tax credit cert to the employer to allow them to tax your correctly.
