About as polite a title as I can think but trying to identify what creature is doing its business in the garden! Have been finding alot of poo on the lawn most mornings. Always very black and when...er...dissected did find a little snail shell in one of the, deposits, shall we say! This morning found at least ten different mounds but all are very runny (still black though) and in one place looks like the creature has a diarrhea problem! A kind of trail of the stuff! None of the stuff is smelly so am thinking hedgehog? Or could it be a cat? Didn't think a cat would do this sort of pooing on a lawn though?

It sounds like a sick hedgehog. Unfortunately it will probably not survive the winter if it is as sick as this sounds.

Sounds like a hedgehog alright. Possibly one that is getting milk somewhere.

A lungworm problem is a possibility as well.

Kess might be right. People still put out bread and milk for hedgehogs even though its very bad for them. Lungworm could be treated with a shot by the vet if you want to try and catch the hedgehog. Or else let nature take its course.

Thankyou for the replies and yes, it certainly sounds like hedgehog. Haven't seen it yet and have been sat at window at night to try and identify. I haven't left anything out for it so perhaps I should to try and spot it? Trouble is there are a couple of feral cats around so don't want to attract them with any food!
