I am a 42 year old female . I have a good diet and exercise every day. I am not over weight and do not smoke.

Sometimes i wake in the night unable to breath and then after a few seconds when i can take a breath i choke for ages. It is very scary.

I have googled this and sleep apnea seems to be the most common suggestion but i'm not sure that my symptoms match. I don't snore,i don't get heartburn or acid reflux, i don't eat before going to bed and rarely drink alcohol.I naturally sleep on my side and have two high pillows.

If anybody else has experienced same would appreciate advice.

op, we can't go suggesting possible causes, nor should you rely on google. speak to your doctor about this.
