    Hi Guys,

My mother needs a new automatic car and i've seen two cars which look good.

    2010 Hyundai i10 vs 2008 Nissan Micra

both have around 25k miles and 1.2 petrol engines

She is leaning towards the Micra because she never heard of Hyundai, are then any good? reliable? Anyone any experience with either?

Would the new motor tax rates as they are after 2008 but petrol rather than diesel?

    Thanks,
    The Hyundai
The auto Micra is a pig on petrol and the Hyundai has 3 years warranty left

I10 is a little smaller though. Either could be ex rental

The 1.2 in the i10 is a lovely torquey engine too.

Got a 06 hyundai i10 auto for the mother-in-law a few years ago. No problems with it. A bit on the small side (esp the boot) but nice high seat - easy access, good visibility.

It was an ex rental, highish miles for a 2 year old, but came at a good price and couldn't complain about it. Would buy the same again if needed.

All cars after July 08 are on the new tax bands, regardless of fuel. For Jan-June 08 you can pick the cheaper of the two systems.

Hyundai Atoz, same thing other than cosmetics. No significant difference.

That Micra looks like it is on the old tax system looking at the disc, which would suggest it was higher on the new system. Horrible car too btw.

Micra auto was band D in 08 as far as I remember

The i10 is in a different league to the atoz it replaced

Strange thing, they (atoz/atos prime) were on sale for years, then they reappeared in showrooms again few years later. Only car I've ever seen with 6 electric window switches in the centre console
