Moving to Dun Laoghaire this weekend. Work on Capel Street. Figure I'd be heading up the coast road on the bike, but wondering if there's any handy shortcuts.
    Anybody else do this route?

no real shortcuts, it's straight run in the rock road: http://goo.gl/maps/ABzxE

Been a while since I've done it but the road surface around Ballsbridge to the canal used to be terrible.

I live in Shankill, just near Dun Laoghaire. It depends what part of DL your living in?? Near the seafront you'd be better off going straight up the coast road through Monkstown to Blackrock and straight up the Dual-Carraigeway into town from there?? Are you from the area at all?

I'm moving from Foxrock to the seafront, but I've little knowledge of Dun Laoghaire. Just the main points and roads. The routes suggested so far here are what I reckoned would be the case.
Just wondered if there was a hidden cycle path or similar.

I'd say either Google Maps or if you want i could cycle you around the few roads that connect if you want? I love a good excuse for a little spin:)

I commute from Glenageary to Stephen's Green daily and I would prefer the Rock Road to the N11. With the exception of the pinch points of the Blackrock Bypass and the stretch near Tara Towers, you have the use of bus lanes for most of the time.
