Looking For A Hard Drive.

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 1tb hard drive for video storage. It'll need to be very reliable and encrypted if possible. It will be all HD footage so I would require 7200rpm aswell if possible.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the cheapest and most reliable option available?

For reliability, best to buy two hard drives and back up.

For speed, the latest Seagate 7200.14 (AKA ST1000DM003) or the WD Blue (WD10EZEX) are quite fast. The WD has 2 years warranty as opposed to the seagate's single year so I would lean towards that. Enterprise drives can be more reliable again with 5 year warranties.

You can encrypt it yourself with software (for example truecrypt (don't lose your password!)).
