Problems with ITV1 HD picture

I just purchased a Finlux Combi receiver TS7100 from Harvey Normans. Very good set with easy to use installation and operation menus. Installation of Freesat (from Astra 2) and Terrestrial channels (from 3 Rock) completed OK.

However when I select ITV1 HD, sound and picture are OK initially but picture disappears after 2 seconds. I am receiving Channel 4 HD, BBC One HD and BBC HD picture and sound OK. The receiver is connected by HD cable to a Sony KDl-46V300 TV and separate optical link to NAD audio amp.

    Has anyone experienced similar problems?

that is a tricky one, what you can do is try the other frequencies for itv hd eg granada, I never heard of that box and could not find it anywhere. here is the link for the frequencies.

bad cabling and dect phones can affect some satellite frequencies.

It's nothing to do with the received signal from the satellite if the sound is still working. Must be some kind of software glitch, don't know why it would pick on ITV HD.

Problem solved - I changed symbol rate from 22000 to 23000. Receiver added this as new channel . Picture and sound working OK - deleted old channel

Did you enter the original settings yourself, or how did it start off with the 22000 SR?

The original channel installation was done automatically under receiver setup/install menu options. The only manual intervention was my changing symbol rate on this channel to correct the problem.
Not sure how the original symbol rate was configured incorrectly - hence my query to see if other users had experienced this problem This is a recent Saorview device to the Irish market so there may not be many installations out there.

    Hi.

I have a Walker combi box, works perfectly, except for ITV1 HD. I have the same problem, loss of picture after about 2 seconds. I have tried
changing frequency, and 22,000 to 23,000 but still the same problem.

What settings should I use for ITV1 HD ??

    Hi Nick02

I amended the settings for ITV1 HD from 10833/H/2200, to
10936/V/2300, but they kept reverting back. I later noticed on
checking the channel list that the frequency 10936/V/2300 was
there, with good signal. It does not cut out.

I'm not sure what station is using 10833/H/2200, but it's not ITV1 HD
and it still cuts out after two seconds.

Next problem is how to load these settings out on to a USB stick, and load them into three more boxes.

I also have a Triac TCS 114 box, which I will check tomorrow evening.

    Thanks for the advise

    Tom

    Hi,

I have just tried setting up the Finlux TS7100 combo box but have seen a strange problem, where it doesn't let me add both the Saorview and Satellite channels to the channel list, has anyone else seen this?

I first auto-tuned in Saorview channels, no problems, can view each one ok. I then tried to auto-tune in Satellite channels, but after
it has completed, Saorview channels are deleted from the Channel list. It actually does prompt up a confirmation screen warning that
channel list is going to get deleted before doing the auto-tune.

I have also tried doing a Satellite auto-scan first, then auto-tuning (and manual tuning) Saorview channels, but then the Satellite
channels get deleted from the channel list (there is no filter option to turn on missing Satellite or Saorview channels also in menu).

There doesnt appear to be any way around the problem, unless im doing something stupid - to me it looks like software issue, is it
possible to do software upgrade on this combo box? Does anyone know the software version they have on their working combo boxes?

Either that or return to Harvey Norman - they seem to sell less known brands there too and mark up the prices?

    Any info. appreciated,
    Digger.

I got a call about both these problems from a local guy. I popped around his last night, i couldnt get ITV 1 HD to work and I also couldnt combine the aerial and satellite channels into 1 list. I did notice though that the BBC red button service seemed to work on the Finlux.

Is your box running the older Version 2.3 software? If so, change it to the newest v2.9 which seems to fix the symbol rate issue. You will need to retune channels.

Thanks for info. Looks like its a definite problem with the Finlux TS7100 then - its a combo box that doesn't let you combine both digital terrestrial and satellite channel onto channel list!

I.e. effectively, it appears that it can only operate as either a Saorview receiver *or* a Satellite receiver but not both at same time. Very little information about it on internet or about any possible software upgrades.

More than likely going back to Harvey Normans asap.

Sounds like it's another Vestel made box, similar to Walker and Nordmende, both of which exhibited the same problem which was fixed with a firmware update.

Oddly, I can't seem to find any details on that Finlux box you have, let alone firmware updates.

Press the opt button (near the bottom right) on the Finlux remote to change mode from satellite to teresstrial.

    Voila!

Great thanks for info! That works, i can switch between Terrestrial Digital and Satellite ok now on Finlux TS7100, but still cant get both onto 1 channel list.

Another problem with Finlux TS7100 is that if we change Saorview/Satellite channel list ordering, when we switch off the box and back on again, it reverts back to original channel list.

Looks like the box needs a software upgrade.

Does anyone know if the finlux box available in Harvey Norman has a 7 day epg and PVR function for both dtt and sat tv?? Many of the saorview/freesat combi boxes on the irish market seem to only have a 7day epg for dtt and now and next for sat.

If you change settings you should save them as default :
Menu - Setup - Save Settings

only yesterday i bought a finlux ts7100 in harvey norman and by last night i had come to the same conclusion - it was either a satellite or terrestrial box. when i set up terrestrial and was happy with it i then tried to set up satellite but lost terrestrial. it was head wrecking all last night till i accidently switched from satellite channels to terrestrial ones and realised they are all there.so for anybody else thats new to all this as i am there is an opt button on the remote that changes from sat to terrestrial and back.
