    Hi,

I just want to learn something about online security etc.
Everyone nowadays says things like, "Oh, what you do online stays there FOREVER".

Is this the case? Like, in the future, will my grand children be able look up what website there grand parent was on on the 24th september 2012 at 19:04HRS and was on this webpage for X seconds or whatever.

I deleted my Bebo account when I joined Facebook and I have also deleted old email address, youtube account, dating profiles etc.

Like, is that stuff still able to be pulled up by the Minister or whoever if it ever required for what ever reason in the future? Or is it a case of when you delete your account or whatever, there is no more trace?

I just want to know myself for the future. Be interesting to hear becuase you hear so much now about internet been policied etc

    Thanks

Yes and no. There isn't currently that level of verbose logging for most sites, but you can count on posts to discussion forums and the like to last a pretty long time. I recently found some posts I made to usenet back when I was about 13, I'm in my late twenties now. That came as a surprise. Apparently Google own my posts now.
