I was out for my first imaging session of the new season and while finalising calibration and getting guidescope running I was lucky to witness the fireball spectacle..

After I finally calmed back down and got my chin off the floor I managed to get some imaging done.

    M13
    1h 40m data: 10x 240s subs, 10x360s subs
    450D, CG5, SW ED80, 2x Barlow
Stacked in DSS, Tweaked in PS & Lightroom

There are 10x 4min exposures and 10x6min exposures stacked to give a total of 1h 40m data.
The other terms are CG5-GT SW ED80 2x Barlow

Cheers TDG. Setup time is painfully slow at the moment. This was the first time out since the spring and it took some time to get things ready for imaging - a good 3+ hours. Next time I plan to spend much less time fiddling with trying to get the drift align as accurate as possible. I'll try a fairly rough drift align and see how the guidescope copes with that. I'd be happy if I could get imaging within 2 hours of getting assembled.

Long-term goal is a roll-off roof observatory with warm room... Imagine no more assembly/disassembly - imaging at the drop of a hat!

    Hi,
Did you moded your camera in any way?And where did you got such dark skies to get 6min exposures without the infamous red glow?

Camera is unmodded - I use it for daytime photography also. I got such dark skies right in my own back yard :) in South Co Monaghan. I have skyglow from a small town 4 miles to the west and another 3 miles to the north. The council put two new streetlights up outside a community centre next door during the summer but luckily the house shades me from the direct glare. There's still quite a bit of glow in the area from the lights though - a new LP filter (on it's way) should help push out to 10 minutes if needed. Although I don't know what the practical exposure limit is with a DSLR.

Nice pics. Some great detail in them.

Sounds like you have some nice dark skies to work from

Oh yeah I've come across that before alright. Peltier cooling, isn't it? Maybe a project for the future..
