Hi, just wondering- I drink a lot of herbal tea and I have my own teabags and my own cup. Is there anywhere that I can get free hot water/ access to a kettle. The arts block cafe charge 40c for it and that adds up if I drink a few cups every day!

If not in the arts block, is there anywhere on campus with access to a kettle/hot water?

Do you have access to a society room perhaps? Or maybe cadge some hot water if you have friends who live on campus, whose place you can go back to for lunch or whatever? I can't think of anywhere in the arts block that would give you free hot water, to be honest. A friend of mine used to do the exact same as you, bringing in his own teabags and cup, but he bought the hot water from the cafe, reckoning 40c was still better than paying 1.50 (or whatever) for the cup/bag + water. He was also a huge tea drinker.

The postgrad room down in the Lloyd building has a kitchen in it. Bumming the use of the kettle would be no problem. Straight in the front door, swing left and straight on through. They will not eat you. If you can play the piano it is an added bonus.

Urine is sterile apparently, so if you're well hydrated there isn't much difference between warm tapwater and your urine. You can put your teabag in a cup and piss on it in the jacks, leave it drain for a while and then sip away at it, grand cuppa, did it a few times when queuing for Springsteen tickets!

What is remarkable about this is it appears you're using your real name. Good luck with the ladies. Excellent advice BTW.:)

Invest in a good quality flask, fill it with boiling hot water in the morning and you have hot water for the day???

On the first floor of the arts block, beside the mens bathroom (near the tables) there's a coffee vending machine that has a button labelled "hot water." Never tried it, but noticed it today.

I'm fairly sure you have to pay for it though.

Thanks for all the suggestions:) Will look into most of them...verrry tempted with the whole kettle idea, I'll look like such a creep kneeling in some dark corner waiting for it to boil though. I noticed on the ground floor of the art's block, down near the edmund burke theatre (i think), right beside the secret-ish toilets there is a small kitchen for cleaning staff...the door looked open the other day...

No microwaves for undergrads anyway. One of the SU President candidates promised them a few years back but everyone voted for his opponent who promised wifi for smart phones instead

(Bitter because I have no smart phone... but I have food I want to microwave :P)

There's a few places on campus with microwaves, couches, magazines, kettles, toasters etc. I'm not telling you where the best one is cause it's nice and quiet ;)

HOWEVER I will tell you that the math soc room in the ham has all of the above

The Hist do/did Tea & Toast on Fridays, I'm sure you could steal some hot water from their burko.

The mature student society have a kettle.
If you want you can walk up to Smithfield and go to the Cappucin Centre. They have tea, dinner and desert for free.
