If a mod can edit the title of this thread it would be great to have this as the 2012 Ryder Cup thread :D

McDowell & McIlroy, Rose & Poulter after that its hard to second guess José María Olazábal. Westwood & Donald have played before as has Westwood & Garcia.

Here are the records for all the team members. I've not broken down fourballs and foursomes stats...

    Team EUROPE|Total (W-L-H)|Singles (W-L-H)
    Nicolas Colsaerts| - | -
    Luke Donald|8-2-1|2-1-0
    Sergio Garcia|14-6-4|1-4-0
    Peter Hanson|1-2-0|0-1-0
    Martin Kaymer|2-1-1|0-1-0
    Paul Lawrie|3-1-1|1-0-0
    Graeme McDowell|4-2-2|2-0-0
    Rory McIlroy|1-1-2|0-0-1
    Francesco Molinari|0-2-1|0-1-0
    Ian Poulter|8-3-0|3-0-0
    Justin Rose|3-1-0|1-1-0
    Lee Westwood|16-11-6|2-5-0
    Total|60-32-18|12-14-1

    Team USA|Total (W-L-H)|Singles (W-L-H)
    Keegan Bradley| - | -
    Jason Dufner| - | -
    Jim Furyk|8-15-4|4-2-1
    Dustin Johnson|1-3-0|1-0-0
    Zach Johnson|3-3-1|1-1-0
    Matt Kuchar|1-1-2|0-1-0
    Phil Mickelson|11-17-6|4-4-0
    Brandt Snedeker| - | -
    Webb Simpson| - | -
    Steve Stricker|3-3-1|1-1-0
    Bubba Watson|1-3-0|0-1-0
    Tiger Woods|13-14-2|4-1-1
    Total|41-59-16|15-11-2

...but in terms of fourballs and foursomes, Europe seems to have the better stats at 57% win ratio and singles coming out at about 45%

USA have 30% in fourballs and foursomes and 54% in singles

Pretty close but slight edge for Europe

Lawrie/Garcia could actually be a great call. Lawrie is an excellent putter and throw in Garcia's iron play hopefully would do the job.

The other thing those stats show is the experience of the European team, only 1 rookie compared to 4 on the American side.

The rookies can go either way though, it's hard to know.

The stats would suggest that Europe should win 9 of the fourballs/foursomes with the USA winning 5, two others being halved

10-6 going into the singles would be too much though :). 9-7 would be a more realistic aim.
