Flying with air lingus

    Hi Guys,

I've travelled with Ryanair 3 times in the last 12 months and just booked flights for Tuesday evening to fly with Air Lingus to Paris.

First time in about 10 years being on an Air Lingus flight and just want to make sure i've covered all the basis.

Ryanair have made it fairly simple. Pay online, check in (registering your passport details) and turn up at the airport. Scan your boarding pass and check in your bag.

Is air lingus pretty much the same setup? Paid for my flight and got the confirmation email. So what now? There is a check-in online, but it can only be used in the 30 hours before flight time, from what I can gather.
Did some searching of the forums and from what I can see, if you want to check in online before the 30 hour mark, you must pay to reserve a seat. otherwise you just wait until that 30 hour mark and they you are assigned a seat for free. Will I be given a boarding pass to scan off when I check in online?

Then is the airport setup the same as Ryanairs? Flying from terminal 2 for the first time, so just want to make sure I know what I'm doing.

Sorry if this sounds a bit confusing and full of unnecessary worry, but i'mm flying over to see a friend I haven't seen in a while and really want to make sure the journey all goes well.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, you can check in online, at a kiosk at the airport or even at a desk - for no charge.

You can print your boarding pass if you check in online. Obviously, the earlier you check in, the better selection of seats you will get.

Not quite sure what you mean by "airport setup?". In general though it's go into terminal, join queue, drop bag/check in, go to security, clear security, pass time, board plane and fly ;)

Once you've checked in online you can select your seat online for free.

just checked in and got my boarding pass... didnt have to enter any passport details, which was what I was expected to have to do.

surely they would need my passport details before I fly?

Once the name on your passport and the name on the ticket match that's all that matters, I don't know why Ryanair look for a passport number!

grand. and are aer lingus the same as Ryanair as regards "middle" names... if my passport says "John Michael Smith" and my ticket says "John Smith" are they alright with that? Because Ryanair never seem to mind, but just to be perfectly sure.

If you have an Android or iPhone you can check in on your phone. Quite handy.
