Timer dial on boiler going slow

Just started turning on the heating (*sigh*). The boiler itself was serviced recently, and the timer (which is a dial type, not one where you push out the little pins, it's more or less exactl the one in this picture) is working, i.e. it goes round, and turns the gas off. But it's not synchronised with real time, I think it's going too slowly.

I'm hoping this just means the dial timer thing itself needs replacing, and I've found a couple of threads here which suggest it's not that hard to do. But would appreciate opinions on whether this is actually what's wrong with it, given that it is turning around, just at the wrong pace...

(incidentally, don't know if this is typical for this model, but the dial feels very 'loose' when you move it around...)

The timer you have is landis and gyr. It looks like a single channel. I am guessing you switch on the white button at the side for heating and off for hot water.

Usuallly when the clocks go slow the pins are getting stuck. Its an easy change and you just watch what wire goes where.

Thanks Joey; this photo isn't actually my timer (I found it online) but it's pretty similar. We don't have the switch on the side, as far as I've been able to work out since living in the house (we're renting) there's just "heat + water" on (24 hrs), off or on timer - there isn't a water only option.

So you reckon it is that the timer thing needs replacing, yeah? Thanks very much for the guidance.

I'm guessing a hardware / electrical store might stock these things?

You will need to know if its a single or dual channel switch you need. Google the model number and you should know.

Super, thanks Joey. Will i find the model number on the timer itself? (I'm not at home right now so can't check if it's on there...)
