Hi all I really need some help..im making this dress for halloween and I haven't a clue where to begin! The skirt seems quite easy, just a few pieces of satin sewn together, but in regards to the ice cream cone and all the other little bits? What should I make them out of? And how would they attach to the bodice? And my biggest problem? Im on a verrry tight budget, so the cheapest possible solutions only! P.s I think im in the right forum, but if not feel free to move me

If I were you i'd buy a cheap corset-type bra - Pennys nearly always have them, they're like a bra on top but with a bodice attached. That way you'll already have a constructed, sturdy top to work from and you can sew/glue your candy pieces onto it. You could also attach your skirt to it to make the dress. I made a mermaid costume this way last year and it worked great :D Good luck!

Yeah I agree try get a corset style top in Penneys so you have something fairly sturdy to work on.

Here's a link to a blog that shows how to make ice cream cones out of fabric so you could incorporate the idea to make a larger cone to attach to the top.

You can get corrugated paper in the likes of Easons or you may have some at home if you've gotten any packages lately and use this to form the base of the cupcake and make the top of the cupcake the same way as the ice cream cone.

Look in craft shops or places like Hickeys or bead shops for candy shaped buttons/beads or you could use actual sweets just make sure they are things like boiled sweets so they don't melt into your costume!

I'd also wear the actual candy bracelets/necklaces you can get and if you can do a candy coloured caviar manicure. :)

ETA: Here's another link to a blog that shows how to make fake candy and lollipops - http://thescentedcottage.blogspot.ie/2010/08/lets-make-some-fake-candy.html

Buy some bags of cheap sweets in Lidl, the candy ones that come individually wrapped so they don't melt all over you.
