Great win... I think I was the only person in the whole of the Davin Stand who was cheering for the Dubs... and the wind was cold as it whipped around me as I stood up to applaud as they won... :o

Well deserved. The game today was the closest any team got to Dublin in the minor championship this season. They were so far ahead of the rest of the field, it was frightening. I think we were more focused on avoiding a repeat of the Leinster final hammering rather than actually winning the thing.

Congratulations to Dublin on a well deserved win. I still believe that they had a better team last year, but that is sport.

Yes, I noticed that metaphorical cold wind around me on the Cusack too ;)!! anyway, a really good win. have to say, some really grand young players on the Meath team - lots to build on there for the future. Here's hoping for the hurlers next week.

    Scenario 1:
Team of 18 year old lads train for years to perfect their skills to be best in Ireland. Some of them achieving All Ireland standard in two sports.

    Scenario 2:
Idiot types inane comment on a thread he claims he doesn't care about.

    I know which achievement I applaud:D:D:D:D:D:D

Seriously some people on Boards are so pathetic it almost makes me sad:o

    Mostly it makes me laugh.

Well done to Dublin minors - is some serious talent in that team - have never seen a minor team so far ahead of the rest of the field..

Well done to the Dubs from a Meath man. By far the best team in the country a this level.

Fantastic performance and very clinical at times. Great spirit shown as well to pull away again after Meath brought it back to 1 point. The future is bright, the future is blue!

I think himself and Kilkenny could build some relationship together. Costello is so sharp and intellegent with that ball. Lots of potential greats on that team along with last years. Cost can take the step next year I think.

One little problem is how long can we keep Kilkenny in the Sky Blue with all the Aussie Rules clubs hovering over him:(

It was a relative poor performance by that team's standards, plenty of poor kicking. Letting Meath and Kerry get as close to them as they did was anything but clinical. Those shocks woke them up and they played good enough to power by them but Dublin sleep-walked to this AI never being tested in the way last year's team was by Galway and Tipp.

Well done to Dublin on a minor and u21 double.

Has anyone else seen the photos of some of the team drinking at a session with Daniel Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter)???

There are loads of photos up on Facebook and over in the You Laugh You Lose thread.

Absolutely classic. Apparently Radcliffe was out in Dublin at the same time the Minor lads were out filling the cup and brought him back to the session.

There may be some question mark as to if the photos are real, but either they are the world's best ever photoshops, it's Daniel Radcliffe's evil twin... or this is the newest entry: Harry Potter And The Order Of The Pissheads...:P

Here is a link to it in the independent, with accompanying pictures and everything. http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/independent-woman/celebrity-news-gossip/daniel-radcliffe-parties-with-dublin-minor-football-team-after-allireland-win-3241409.html

I think it is great, a load of people having a laugh and gaining an extra, well known person to celebrate with them. Must have been some night out.

I think it's class for all them lads on the Minor team; they would all be 16-18, so they would have been kids when the Harry Potter craze was at its height and were most likely into it. So imagine the kicks they got out of that night; they're All Ireland champions AND they get to meet the person who was the star in films they most likely loved when they were kids!

Would kinda be like me winning the World Series Of Poker and then getting to go on the lash with Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill or something!!! :P

I see 4 of the footballers are also on the hurling team this Sunday, which begs the obvious question - how many have won the minor double in the same year? Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

Dublin in '54. Ill check other counties.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 687 ✭✭✭WhatNowForUs?

Cork have done it three times

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 687 ✭✭✭WhatNowForUs?

    And Tipp in 34.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 245 ✭✭Davin Stand

Tipp have 4 footballers on their team next Sunday as well - Bill Maher, John McGrath, Dylan Fitzelle and Jack Shelly. The first 3 won All Ireland Minor football medals last year, so whoever wins on Sunday there will be players celebrating winning Minor All Ireland medals in Football and Hurling. Great to see that dual players are still thriving in both counties.

    Dublin in '54.

I see there was a V. Bell and T. Bracken on both teams, presumably the same blokes; impressive achievement.

Anyone know where I can get a tape of this match?? One of my lads is on the Dublin team, but the PVR f*%&^ed up..
TV3 & RTE player have nothing. Not to mention the lack of replies to queries from their "Contact us" email addresses.

    Any ideas?

Hard luck to Cormac Costello and Eric Lowndes losing the final for the second year in a row and missing out on the Football/Hurling Minor double as well. 4 Tipperary players who won Football medals last year won Hurling medals today on the field of play and Colin O'Riordan right half back in the Football final last year was on the subs bench today. Well done to them.

many thanks indeed for that Davin Stand. V v sorry for the ickle Dubs [I had such hopes of a double] but that was some performance by the Tipp team. Isn't it great to see so many dual players thriving. I really think the Dublin hurlers have some great potential coming through - not to mention Tipperary !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 DarraghH7

OscarCara - yes indeed, hopefully the Dubs can follow up on the hard work done at Minor level.

I feel bad for the dual players who lost out on their chance the meet Harry Potter!!:D
