How much would it be to replace a cracked front windscreen in a 2000 Toyota Yaris??

Just want to get an idea of price so I know what to expect.

    Thanks.:)

If you don't have windscreen cover as part of your insurance, I think it's about 600 euros plus.

First thing you should do is check if your insurance covers it.

If not, I think I paid €180 for front windscreen for a Fiat Punto about 4 years ago.

It's what I was quoted for a new windscreen for a punto about three years ago!

You got shafted!! I was in college at the time I had to get a new windscreen for my 2000 punto. There is no way in hell I could have afforded that kind of money. I'm almost certain I paid €180. I got it done in Portlaoise.

What happens to ncb if you get a new windscreen through the insurance though?

    Do you loose it?

With 123.ie and fully comp with this "step back" ncb protection btw.

PS-My girlfriends car and a stone came up off the back of a lorry and made shyte of the windscreen this evening.

It doesn't affect your ncb. However not all policies cover windscreens. Sometime you have to pay a bit extra for this. Just give your insurance a call in the morning or check what your policy says.

So if the policy document says yes "windscreen" then it will be replaced for free and not affect the full ncb??

Yes. Might be a good idea to call your insurance company as they might have a preferred company to do the work. They may only cover it if for example http://www.allglass.ie/ do the work.

My insurance company paid €220 for a new windscreen last week and that was for a 5 series!
I will admit though that I was expecting it to be atleast 3 times that..they have come down a lot over the last 6 or 7 years..

I asked her collect me and drive me home this evening, and I feel bad for what has happened (as I got her to pick me up).

I dont want her to loose her full NCB so I am prepared to pay out myself for the windscreen to be replaced.

Just dont know what sort of cost to expect though.

    Thanks for the help.:)

Yes, most companies transfer you straight through to their preferred company to do the replacement. They came out to where I worked to do it.

No she won't loose her ncb. Just check out any of the windscreen replacement companies websites and they all say that you won't loose your ncb. For example, check out this page:

It doesn't affect your no claims bonus. I've got about 6 wind screens replaced over the past tem years and never paid for one or had a change.in my.policy.

    Thankyou all
I will get her to ring 123 in he morning and just 100% make sure of that.

Am I right to presume that a windscreen company will come to the house to replace the windscreen?
