Annoying electrical type noise in Octavia

Thought I'd put this out there for some opinions. Bought a 2005 Octavia recently, very happy with it. One slight issue is slightly spoiling things, there is an intermittent noise that at its worst sounds like a CD player searching for a disc constantly. The noise itself comes and goes. And it can be quite subtle to the point where it's not an issue at all, and then will go entirely.

I initially thought it WAS the cd player, but having sussed it out over a few days I reckon it's electrical in nature. It sounds like it's coming from behind the CD player, or glovebox. I also think it can be set off by adjustments made to the air con, by locking or unlocking all the doors with the console button, or using the window lock. All will be quiet and then it starts up if you do something.

Any ideas of what should be the first port of call here?

The relay for the indicators tend to click on and off on Octavia's
It comes and goes on mine

It' was dry connection on the indicator stalk
Replacing it involves removing the steering wheel and resetting the airbag

Could also be like my A4, the servos moving the air circulation flaps behind the dash.

When one of the servos go intermittent faulty, they seem to keep trying to find the home position without success, therefore they move back and forth till they find it. I opened up my faulty servo and found that the carbon tracks were worn, so the only reliable solution was to replace the servo.

Thanks, lads. The more I dig around the more I think it is the issue you describe johnny k. How much did it cost to set right?
