    Hi everyone..

    Need some advice about big4..

I am an ACCA student have passed 7 papers with 78% so far.
I also have graduation which is in hotel management, but thats only a 2.2
I ve also registered for the oxford brooks Bsc in accounting along with ACCA

I m wondering if I can apply on that basis, as I have completed 7 papers and hopefully be finishing my Bsc next year.

If I can should I mention the other graduation as well ?

One more thing ..I tried in PWC but they had a question..which course r u interested to take? ..theres no ACCA on their list...but in Deloitte they have positions for ACCA students

does that mean I can only apply if the firm mentions ACCA on their site?

    please help.....

    thanks a lot..

The Big4 generally require that you complete your training and obtain the ACA qualification - so you will need to select this if you're interested in applying. I've heard that some firms allow you to continue with ACCA, but you will be applying for the departments that work on SME type engagements. However - don't be discouraged, the work you have done to date for ACCA can be transferred to obtain the ACA exam equivalent.

I would still apply to the firms regardless of whether they state ACCA or not - just once you realise that you will likely need to sit ACA exams when working in the Big 4. The Big 4 take people from all disciplines (e.g. law, journalism etc. - not just business & accounting).

You should state all of the education you are pursuing/doing on the application that you are working on - it might give you the edge over the competition. The issue around graduation won't be a problem - my understanding is that all of the Big 4 allow you to take a day for graduation leave.

    Hope that helps.

You'll be asked at some point in the application process to 'fill in the gaps' of all the post-LC years. So you'll have to mention the hotel mgt degree. I can't imagine that being a problem as there is no shame in a 2.2 so long as your BSc ends up a 2.1 or better.

Making a big change after your first degree could indicate that you're flighty, but the fact that you've done so much ACCA will prove that you're committed to accountancy - so again, not a problem.
