Long one here. Have been getting constipated since i was 6/7 yrs old, that's over 20 years now. Was on mik of magnesia and similar for years. My stomach has never been great, lots of gas and constipation throughout the years along with cramping in bowel and sometimes vomiting. Every so often i get bouts of v&d which can last 2 days but this only happens about twice a year. I can't eat anything spicy at all or my stomach starts burning and i get cramps. Gp has me diagnosed with ibs, just from symptom list. In the last couple of years i've noticed i sometimes get orange mucus in my stool, not blood, orange goo. I've also had chronic anaemia for years, sometimes extremely low, once i was within a few days of getting a transfusion but managed to get iron levels back up tg. Since i had my third child in april things have gotten a lot worse. I didn't have a bowel movement for 3 weeks after giving birth but then it started off and i thought i was fine. I would usually only go once or twice a week anyway, that's my norm. Have had awful bouts of vomiting, not being able to swallow, severe pain in stomach/intestines since june. All my bloods are fine, upper abdominal scan was fine (pancreas, gallbladder, liver & kidneys),had gastroscopy (tube down throat) and stomach was perfect. Finally last week i was in agony, passing loads of orangey mucus and pains from stomach to back, went to a&e and they finally did chest xray (i had been in june and they said i didn't need one,was prob ulcer, hence the gastroscopy) and i was completely impacted. So i'm on laxose and it's working a bit and i am going every 2nd day, stool still coming out with orange mucus and am also getting white mucus discharge after bowel movement. A&e doc suggested i get referred for colonoscopy this time to find out what's going on. So waiting now for that referral.
Now the thing is i have a 10 yr old with problems the same as mine since he was 3 years old. Chronic fecal impaction and he's been basically on movicol for 7 years. We're getting his rast tests in the day ward in hospital soon to see is it an intolerence. His diet is perfect and he drinks loads of water and exercises daily. Could it be possible that i have an ibd and he has it too? Tia.

op, we can't diagnose either you or your child.

you need to wait for the outcome of your own tests and his and take it from there

    all the best.
