    Howdy!

Wanted to start a thread and get peoples opinions on milks! (non- dairy ones)

There's so much more choice these days when it comes to going dairy free, and I've tried a lot of them, and some work better than others in certain situations.

    *

Coconut milk - I'm mad about coconuts, love them, use coconut oil etc, So I thought yeah coconut milk, how can this be bad?. Well it doesn't work so well in cereals. :pac:

Then on the carton it said perfect in tea and coffee, I was like i dunno, but it does actually work well in tea. haven't tried coffee yet.

    *

Rice milk - I found this too sweet, I'd imagine it works well in baking and is used a lot in dairy free chocolate from what I've seen.

    *

Oat milk - Probably my current favorite, It's awesome in cereals and tea/coffee. I even happily drink this by itself.

    *

Almond milk - A new one for me, had it a few weeks ago. The taste is nice and mild, not too overpowering so it works well in everything really. not too nice if its not cold though.

    *

Soy milk - I've never liked the taste for some reason. even Soy spreads, I've never got around to trying the flavored Soy cartons you can get, but They'd be no use in tea or coffee. Maybe in cereals?

    ***

So far that's what I've concluded, anyone have any strong opinions or facts on any of them?

ive tried all of them too, some were bad and i think myself anyway compare it to dairy so some are too sweet, watery and even grey looking. i have to say kara coconut milk works wonders for me,i use it in cereal(what prob did u have with this) i drink tea/coffee black.

I love that there's so much choice now! I usually use unsweetened soya for tea. Coconut milk is really nice for making rice pudding. Almond milk or sweetened soya is great for smoothies and for cereals I usually mix soya and rice milk together. I find they all work equally well for baking. Oat milk is probably my least favourite although my husband loves it on muesli. I've yet to try spelt milk or hemp milk.

    I love almond milk.

Does anyone have any tricks to stop Soya milk splitting in coffee?

I love hazelnut milk, and Tesco are doing their own brand of it now so I'm drinking it a lot!

I've never found that soya milk curdles or splits in tea or coffee.

It never does in tea for some reason, but always in my coffee.

To make it not curdle in coffee moonbaby, you leave a spoon in it for a minute before adding the milk.

Coconut milk tasted weird with my weetabix.

Soy milk in coffee is a bit annoying alright ihate the way a lot of coffee shops charge extra for soy.
