Advice regarding college maths

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a book that covers maths in regard to biological/physical science?

I decided early on into my LC that I wasn't that interested in maths - so I (stupidly) dropped to OL and managed to get an A1 with very little work.

Then in 1st year college, I had a maths lecturer that pretty much ruined any understanding I had regarding algebra, differentiation and integration. (think she was great at maths herself - just hadn't a clue how to teach)

Now I really need to brush up on gaussian integrals and differentiation for different aspects of physical chemistry and so on and I'm finding it very difficult.

I've been looking at khancademy (which has helped quite a bit) and looked through a few books from the library but they seem to be far too advanced for what I need.

I feel like I'm going to have to go back and learn all of it from the start.

    Any advice?

This book is excellent for brushing up on maths, not just for engineers: Engineering Maths

It has loads of examples, and covers quite a lot of material at 1288 pages!

If it looks a bit advanced, you could try its little brother: Foundation Maths

I'll check them both out :) Might start at the bottom and work my way up :)

    Maybe check out www.patrickjmt.com

I think he's better than Khan.

I find khan really helpful for chemistry - but kind of confusing with some of his maths videos. Not sure where he pulls some figures from. I'll definitely check out the link.

    Thanks! :)
