Currently sat on the swift from Holyhead, what is the story with the miserable attitude of the staff on Irish ferries.

We more often than not use Stenaline and the staff can't be nicer, but the Irish ferries lot are so sour make me think of not using them in the future.

I've never had a bad experience using either but I find the Stena guys more friendly for sure. Like Ryanair vs Aer Lingus I guess there will be a differing culture within each company as to how much they invest in their people and the whole customer experience. I think Stena are well ahead in that regard.

Maybe because Irish Ferries are not very good employers that dont pay well and got rid of all their irish and uk staff to pay eastern europeans buttons for the same work..

Yes I remember that, I am well used to the service crew being foreign. I think this was the first time I noticed the captain being foreign.

Cheaper staff pay hasn't been reflected in cheaper fares that's for sure.

No but their profits have gone up which is all they care about. I would have known a lot of lads working on the old irish ferries and they had nothing against the eastern european lads and actually part of the strike was to get the eastern lads wages up to 7.65 an hour from the 3.60 that Irish Ferries wanted to pay them by flying under a different flag. This while chief exec michael rothwell was earning 687,000 a year.
