    hi lads just wondering if anyone has heard stags calling yet was out this morning and heard one.rang another hunter and he told me he heard one roaring on friday morn

    I heard a couple of roars out of them on Wednesday at about dusk up in wicklow.

    There are pretty late at it this year.
    This time last year I had shot two already.
    Still seeing groups of hinds with calves at foot and yearlings,but no stags..:confused:

    it was the 7th of october when they started down here last year but the drop in temperature might have triggered them of now.hitting out toight to have a listen

    if i step outside the door id hear them roaring now but the rut hasnt started yet just the small boys letting themselves be heard.was out for a walk the last evening an seen three prickets a four or five year old with a few hinds,and when it starts rite ya wont see no young animals hanging round with a herd of hinds

    went out this morn to have another listen heard nothing so let a roar out myself and sure enough my stag answered and kept at it got myself to a position to c him and ended up with a nice eleven pointer.not my biggest stag but not a bad start to the week
