Thanks fbemt.. always a very appreciated thread.

    3 Courgettes for 59c is a steal.

Can be pricey enough.. paid €1.50 for 2 in Dunnes yesterday, and they were on special.

Yeah that's the problem with these offers.

I head off to Aldi to get my low price fruit and veg, and end up buying a load of cheap beer and wine while I'm there.

    Dunnes:
Spotted 6 irish grown tomatoes for a Euro.
All the other "offers" aren't really worth mentioning.

    Thanks for the list, OP!

Some good offers after a few quiet weeks. Pineapples and Courgettes are fantastic value at esco

Lidl finally updated with their offers for the week.

Fresh Corn on the Cob is lovely. Needs a few days to ripen but wrap it in tin foil with a knob of butter, 30 mins in oven and gorgeous sweet buttery corn awaits. Mmmmmmm

Dunnes have been pretty poor the last 6 weeks or so. Something not quite right going on there.

Dinner today, based on the offers on this week

Potatoes (Boiled and tossed in garlic butter and rosemary) - 49c (+approx 5c for butter and herbs)
Courgette Fritters (Shredded, spices, onion, flour, fried) - 59c (+approx 15c for onion and others)
Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Carrots and Parsnips (Chopped, Roasted) - 67c + 59c

    Desert
Pineapple Upside Down Cake - 59c (+approx 30c for eggs, flour)

Approximate cost for dinner for the family was €3.43. Granted, there was no meat but boy was it tasty and we are all stuffed.

Cake left over for cup of tea tonight.

If I round it off to €4 to take little extras into account and we had a nice, filling and inexpensive dinner and desert. Everybody happy and cake to be polished off. Mmmmmmm

Like the sound of your courgette fritters, dfbemt. And may I just say what trojan work you do with your Aldi and veggie lists, great help in planning meals and shopping lists for the week. Even people from other websites are directed here to your posts;)

Saw a recipe for sweet courgette bread in a paper last week which could be an interesting way of using it. Loads of recipes if you google! I often grate it into things like bolognaise and chillis.

Dunnes would want to get the finger out really, they never advertise their offers (when they have them), well at least, I never see them around, and their website is crap.

Tesco really piss me off. Went to get their offers in Rathfarnham store today.
No 59c courgettes in stock, plenty of non sale versions
No single yellow peppers @ 59c, plenty of single red, green or orange peppers at full price, plenty of yellow pepers as part of multi packs
    No Plums in stock.

It's a joke saying they're on offer when they simply order small amounts just to get you in the door. Think I'll stick with Aldi where they always have advertised specials by the crate load.

(I should say that they did have carrots, pineapple and cumcubers).

This is a great thread every fortnight, thanks for the effort put in OP.

I remember someone put up a link to a website where all the deals were on one page. Had to reset my iPhone today - anyone have this link handy?

    Thanks..

i was in the one in carlow today and they had orange/yellow/red peppers for 49c.. they had other deals too but I didnt notice, was too busy buying peppers

dunno if they're just carlow or national... or.. part national I guess since there's no superquinn west of the shannon

I never thought of them TBH. They never really did offers similar to the Aldi Super 6 which has been copied by Tesco and Dunnes for a period of time.

Also, Superquinn only have approx 30 stores around Ireland (20+ in Dublin), including one in Limerick but on the Eastern side of the Shannon ;)

Yes they have all peppers on offer for 49c but little else as a real offer eg have advertised an offer of twin pack of corn for €1.49 compared to 79c in Lidl !

Will keep an eye on them in future.

Tesco in Gorey had no Pineapples today, and it seemed to be only one courgette in their offer. Why put on the offer if you havent got the stock for it. Learn from Aldi

Usually the Tesco deals are Tesco branded goods and especially the veg I've found to be of poor quality really and often of smaller qty/weight and Tesco would be last on my list for fruit and veg bargains.
