First time hunting Fox

    Was out tonight it was my first time on a night time shoot and I must have nearly fell 8 or 9 times in holes:D was with the next door neighbour who is also amember of the Club our first call was the local Bog also Club shooting land just as I pulled up to open the barrier what was 20 yards in front Mr Fox we could not shoot we were still half way on the main road he was just looking at us anyway barrier open drive in get Guns out lamp out checked the Field two little eyes staring at us but too far for a shot and lying down close to Mr Fox Cows lying in the grass so off we went down the lane of the Bog checking the Hollows where the Turf is footed we decided to shine the Lamp behind us Mr Fox again running away and looking back checked around for a while and decided to go to another part of the Club shooting grounds all we saw were eyes but too far again for a shot I am just back and I think we need to go with someone more experience that has done this for a while we have to get some tips anyway great night out but came back without shooting anything :( at least we were close to our Pheasant Pen and we might have warned the Foxes off well just for tonight

    What gun were u shootin with if the shots were too far I'm assumin a .22 ya had
    From the way your talkin id say it was a young cub probably this year or last year an hasn't been shot at before as he kept lookin back at yous

    We both had 22's with us but I enjoyed the night even if nothing was shot sure won't they be there another night or should I say in that area as you say next time.;)

    was out myself the other night for duck and met a fox coming trotting in towards me, needless to say he met a 34g 5 which killed him stone dead!

    probably about that,was hard to judge in the dark and i was suprised it knocked him,no second shot needed

    You will find that time and time again the same fields produce foxs , I don't know how many foxs I've shot in the bottoms behind my house , and I put lamp out the other night and low and behold a cub looking back at me 80 yards away

    You won't shoot a Fox dead at 40 yds with a #5,have shot one at 15 yds dead with Fiocchi 34 gram.

    Most times when a fox is gone and his scent is no longer around the territory another fox or two will move right in so basically that's the reason for foxes been in same field

    I know but it was another new member in the Club wanted to go so I said I would go I need to arrange some night at the weekend working this weekend if your available the next give us a call how you getting on with the tickets:D

    sorry didnt read that proper.i was tinkin foot not yards,so about the 15 yd mark ya
