Could they not even ..tryee..make it look tidy. Im not really going to be interested in a room where there is a bed unmaid and some paraphernalia scattered about the place.

maybe they dont want any one to move in hmmmm.........

I've had the exact same experience and not only in Ireland - if you were taking photos of a kitchen you could at least take out the full rubbish bags and take the dishes out of the sink
