    Hello,

Just looking for advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. I have emigrated to London due to work and have landed what can be pretty much a dream job. Great!

However I'm struggling with the move over. Back home I was really sociable. Never going more than two days without playing sports or heading out with my friends. The work environment I've joined isn't exactly conducive to this. I'm trying to keep busy, I exercise nearly every day and am keeping busy with work.

I know it isn't far from home but I do notice slight cultural differences and am still getting used to it. But this is the 3rd weekend now that I will be sitting in from Friday evening till I have to go to work again Monday.

Just wondering was anyone else in a similar slump and how they fared?

You're still in the early stages of settling into your suroundings and getting to know the place. Why not get up and go out on saturday and sunday and have a good look around and explore the area you live in. If you played a alot sports back home then you should start asking around in work about local teams to join and looking wheather your sport is football, rugby or something else. All these clubs generally have a good socia and life making it easier to meet new friends while doing something you enjoy a couple of evenings a week.

It's only your third weekend staying in after moving over. If it was your third month i'd be more concerened. Just relax and try keep yourself and mind busy.

I agree with this plus London has a massive Irish population. There are groups, Irish centres and GAA clubs you could look into? I know you might feel as if you haven't moved over to the UK just to do what you did at home but don't discount it.

Have a look on the Abroad forum in Boards too for London.

Explore London as the previous poster suggested. There is so much to see and do there so you can keep yourself occupied for two days each week until you get more on your feet. Why not do all the tourist things, like the Tower, Houses of Parliament, Hyde Park, Camden Market, St Paul's, V&A museum etc etc? I know a lot of them are geared more towards families and groups but Hyde Park, for example, is a lovely place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Good luck OP you have a good job in an amazing city and I hope it works out for you :)
