Well? would you date someone with the same first name as your own?

Like a David going out with a David or a Paul with a Paul etc etc
lol would be weird introducing yourself and your partner if ye both had the same name. :P

Something which would be alot more prevalent to the gay community for obvious reasons!

    /*end of random thought for today!*/ :D

    lol sure.

I mean it'd be daft for a few weeks, but it'd hardly ruin true love.

would you go out with some who looked a lot like you?

    that would freak me out.

I know a Paul married to a Paula, and a Francis married to a Frances! Also a Jack going out with a Jackie.

Not quite the same - but very close!!

I will never, ever have that problem. I've never even met someone with my name.

Ahh, hence the username I see... :D

Off the top of my head but not necessarily same sex either, like chatterpillars post, theres-

Brendan/Brenda, Louis/Louise and Dylan, which can either be a guy or a girls name! :D

what about Eoin and Seán (both Gaelic-izations of "John")

    or James and Seamus?

    Brian and Bryan

Actually now I think of it, my grandFATHER'S name, was Francis Mary! Really stumped me as a ten year old when I saw it on his headstone! :D

I've done it before. It wasn't all that strange. It was weirder for everyone else talking to us both when we were at the same place/time :pac: they started to refer to us in the plural.

My cousin is louise and married a Louis my parents are Phillip and Phillis so it does happen alright but I have never heard of a girl named Dylan but heard a song once about a boy named sue :-)

I never thought about this! I suppose it would be weird for other people at first....but then it'd just be normal.

I know of a male couple who have the same name, first name and last name. I presume middle initials come into it!

I've seen this before, people referring to "the Daves"/"the Mikes".

I've never gone out with another Dave, but I have kissed other Daves. and yes, I did find it a bit weird, but not a deal breaker

On a side note, I did work with a guy once and the admin department kept getting us mixed up on their system, so they called us in and asked us some questions to help differentiate us.

Turns out we had the same first name, middle name, surname, date of birth (apart from the year, he was exactly 10 years older), eye colour, hair colour, both wore glasses, were the same height and on the day in question were both wearing similar clothes! Oh, and we are both gay as well! How feckin' freaky is that?!

(I have heard recently he was in a terrible car accident and is now in a wheelchair, but I haven't seen him in ages since I left the company. Must try seeing if he's on Facebook or finding a way of getting in contact with him. Would be good for a catch-up.)

it's the curse of being to similar to someone else!!

(ah no, I hope the guy is OK, that sounds awful)

I went on two dates with someone who had the same name as me, but that's it. I always thought it would be weird, but I didn't really notice in that length of time at least.

    Love this.

I would and I have, well I dated someone who had the Irish version of my name so that sorta counts.

I just think it'd be weird at the ermm... More personal moments. I'd feel weird basically saying my own name!!! ;)

    Never. That would be gay

More than once I've gone out with two people with the same name (not at the same time!) and it usually goes well. Probably brings up the whole "correlation/causation" thing, but the important part is that someone's name isn't what makes you fall in love with them.

One of my exes had the same first and middle name as my sister. She would've had to keep her own surname if we got married! :P

Oh yeh, back to the topic. I was with a Richie once. It wasn't serious, but not because of that.

You'd be fairly shallow if that was a dealbreaker in fairness!

My mate Terry is married to a Terri. He said the biggest problem is people thinking you're weird by refering to yourself in the 3rd person. e.g. Terri is going to the shops, Terri is back from holidays. People that mightn't know you to well think you're talking about yourself and not your wife :D

I went out with a guy who had the same name for 3 years, different spelling (Karl & Carl). It never really caused an issue, it was a conversation starter and people had a giggle but apart from that I got used to it.
