There is nothing wrong with them you could eat it yourself. I would'nt myself but it would'nt do you or the dog any harm.

You certainly can eat them yourself

think it's more mind over matter in that situation

Well I was always told it was a species specific virus.
    Why?
Well if it cannot affect a dog & whilst out for rabbits whether by gun or ferret & you get one then the alternative is to throw it in a ditch which is a waste if all the literature is to the contrary.
I think the mind over matter comment is on the money!

I'm sure foxes eat their fair share of em givin they are the preverbial sitting duck...

i would and have done but they wouldnt have been really bad with it just getting it or getting over it it wont do your dog any harm but if it wads on its last legs i wouldnt its a dying animal and not going to have as much nutritional value as a healthy animal its like a spent salmon wont kill ya but not nice and could give ya the trots

my springers have brought back many mixi rabbits when out and and about. i just freeze them for a week and feed them to the ferrets. anyone who watchers huntersvermin on youtube may have heard him say that he feeds his mixi rabbits to his cats.

just on the mixi rabbits. i shot two rabbits today, one was a big healthy buck and one was a mixi rabbit. quite well on. anyway i pop gutted both of them. the healthy one's guts were bright and pink and smelled of iron. the mixi one's guts were brown and grey and they ****ing stank. the disease must attack every bit of them.

Some dogs are smart enough to know if something is "dodgy" or not. My lurcher/collie X bitch will only eat the head off young rabbits that she gets when we are out rabbiting. She will kill healthy adults too but won't touch the mixi types.
