Lost Key

Lads, I lost my only car key along with my wallet yesterday evening.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how much a replacement key would cost from Audi?

I rang Autokey on the Naas Road and they quoted me €340 and they don't even have them in stock, shocking!

Its a 3 button flip out Audi A4 key (02)

    Thanks

Have you tried any other locksmiths? I would imagine Audi will charge similar if not more.

I'll have to ring Audi tomorrow when they re-open to find out what they'll charge for a replacement key :( ... but no doubt it will be an extortionate amount if Autokey.ie quoted me €340

Does anybody have any suggestions of any other places I could try?

Also, would anyone know if prices vary between Audi Dealerships or are they the same accross the board?

    Thanks

Main dealer should be able to cut and code the key from the Von number. Not all locksmiths can do this and they have to work a lot harder to get the key cut and coded so main dealer could be cheaper

200 euro form "Locktec" in blachardstown

However it is still an ongoing saga as they haven't managed to get the remote central locking working on it.

They cant seem to be able to programme the remote and believe they have cut the wrong key.

They have ordered the "correct" key and are waiting on delivery.

Should have probably stuck with an Audi main-dealer

The car itself can program a key. Really specific sequence but it can be done on most VAG cars.

They've tried to program it by computer and by various manual procedures, but to no avail.

Whether they were doing it right or not, is another question.

I got an original Audi 3 button flip-key from Autokey for 190 euro and they were a pleasure to deal with.

the initial price they quoted me was 340, but that was inlcuding towing my vehicle to their premises and then having pick the lock to get access. The original key itself with cutting and programming was 190 and was finished within 1 hour and opened on saturdays. Audi wanted me to go down to them with my logbook during working hours and they would then order my key which would cost 250 and take another week to arrive.

the real cowboys here are Locktec in blanchardstown, they are a bunch of thieving skangers. They initially cut the wrong key for my car (it also feels fake, cheap and flimsy compared to the original Audi key or the one I got from Autokey) werent able to programme the buttons as a result of it being the incorrect key and then basically lied , fobbed me off and told me where to go. Thieving scumbags, they guy's name is Michael. Avoid at all costs.

that was okay. but your man ask me year an type of car and when i said audi a4 it just seemed high because it audi. told me it wouldn't be a 3 button flip key just one to start it. and had to get it towed even though they are suppose to have call out and can do it on sight. seems a big price €250 when audi garage doin it for less for 3 button flip and programming. strange think they robbin fuc**ers. and as you say done fairly quick.

You arent very clear as to what is involved here, are they towing your car also in this price?

How much for the Audi garage to tow your car also?

They do have a call-out service but they don't unconditionally claim to be able to fix all problems outside of the workshop (I doubt anyone would make that claim),

no neither company are towing included for that price but i dont mind that!! all im stating is the dealer was better and getting a better key for less!!! and maybe you will be in an out in hour but for dearer price!! dont mean to offend anyone and havent. and i sent them an email asking why they are dearer than audi and no reply!!!
