If I got the eight distinctions in my level 5 course but I don't have maths in the leaving certificate can I progress, I am slightly confused how it works.

Depends on what sector you want to study.

Programming or software development would rely on maths.

Usually, your leaving cert is no longer relevant once you get your level 5 award. The IT probably has a list of course requirements online.
