Think Ennis is the biggest in the country. Think Balla is the biggest in Connacht. In a county with 10 marts, I'd say Athenry is the biggest in Galway, perhaps thanks to the advent of the new motorway which facilitates ease of access, much to the detriment of once-great Tuam.

Carnaross is big, but I've never been to any of the others mentioned so I couldn't compare them.

Doesn't show Maam, Mountbellew or Clifden. Headford appears to be west of the Corrib!!

God, Balla must be very dear if they are coming to b/sloe for cheap cattle. i find it hard buy anything there.

dont know they would be pretty shrewd lads. reckon its better value, one thing one of them said were animals were being driven on a bit more in bal these days.

does it really make a difference the size of a mart. personally I would prefer to buy and sell animals in a medium size mart, for selling I wouldnt want the animals standing around all day to be sold if you get a bad draw and losing kgs, and for buying I would prefer to be buying where animals arent being shoved into pens mixing with loads of different animals as the marts are tight on space, as stress causes serious problems. maybe thats just me.

Lot of dealer cattle in B/sloe.

Dealers buying down west/ south few days before and turning few pound in b/sloe few days later. The friends pushing on the price for some poor sap to come in and then it left to him.
Any mart I see good few dealers selling in after buying somewhere else, I reckon that if i am buying there too, I have a saddle on:)

Fermoy mart was sold in the nick of time just before the recession the new mart is in Corrin just outside Fermoy off the m8. The new mart is state of the art nothing spared. The old mart is still there probably belongs to nama now.
