One, possibly:D Any less is a pain. Older 3.1 trooper? Or a Fourtrak? I'd rather the Trooper but give the 3.0 a miss. If you're towing heavy stuff like cars, a car might not suit too good/be even vaguely legal/be able to stop the load in a hurry.

Isn't there some law that the vehicle your using to tow can only tow the weight recommend by the manufactures so you may forget a4's or bora's as they wouldn't have a rowing capacity of 1.5 tonnes and i think for a decent car and trailer 1.5 tonnes is even a bit conservative. So really get a jeep or van. But even a van get a decent one eg not a 1.9 Trafic. If I was getting a van probably the best would be a transporter or less troublesome swb Renault master 2.5 120bhp great van to pull we have one LWB and it is certified to pull just under 3 tonnes. We often pulled around a pallet of slabs with it 2.2 ton for the slabs plus weight of the trailer. However if this is your only vehicle probably get a jeep as no one want to drive a master or other van everyday.
