Taxing car query

Hi all my mother bought a car that had tax out since April, I know she has to tax it from 1st Sept as she bought it this month. I am going to Naas tax office to do it for her, my question is whether the new log book in her name with date of purchase is enough to bring with me to ensure I dont have to back tax?

Don't they have the change of ownership details and date on their system?

the new log book has her date of transfer on it so they wont ask for backdated tax

I've no idea Kenny, I could call them I suppose but have you ever called any tax office before? Its a long process trying to get an answer!

if you have the vehicle cert with the change of owership filled out you can tax it and they will change owership details there and then for you

i did it when i bought my car, it was out of tax for just about a year, they took the cert off me changed it into my name and i was able to tax it all in the same day and i had my new cert one 5 days later

You only have to tax it from the begining of the month that owership transferred. This should be reflected on their system.

Put the vehicle reg in here and it will tell you if it has transferred, this is taken from their system:
