Exhaust Silencers

Hi folks, just enquiring about these as i dont know anything about them. Firstly can such things be got, and are they expensive..What im tryin to get at is my young lads large exhaust is wrecking my head on his 05 Focus!!!:eek:

Get the original exhaust.

You can get them alright,they are called an exhaust bung,they just go into the exit for the exhaust and are secured with a screw. They quieten them down a lot,and you can just shove the bung in the bunghole for the NCT so it gets by on the noise.

He can also take it out quick enough so he can hear the roar while he is driving. At most you'll just have to make a small hole in the end of the backbox to stick a bolt into

You can get a cheap silencer on ebay (about €30) or get a decent apexi (about €160) one. you'll need to know the inner diameter of the exhaust.

A decent aftermarket exhaust will be quiet at low revs but when opened up will be loud ish. That might be the way foreward

He'll grow out of it, I used to have a straight through setup with 4' tailbox on my van and after a day of setting off alarms and ringing in my ears I gladly took it off
