Yeah i know they are expensive, but they are made from Yak leather and guaranteed waterproof, just concerned about the grip on them.
Have had ecco shoes before and no other brand comes near them for comfort.

All golf shoes are guaranteed waterproof though..usually for 1 or 2 years.
The GoreTex Eccos are guaranteed for life...(the only reason I dont mind paying the price)
    The ones above are
"Uses the ECCO Hydromax™ leather treatment for superior weather protection"

so basically they are as waterproof as any leather...i.e. it depends on how well you look after them. GoreTex shoes have a goretex lining, so the care of the outside is largely irrelevant.

For that money I would be looking at a goretex pair...

Thanks for that Greebo, much appreciated.
Can i ask where you purchased the Goretex shoes and how much they were? Also what is the exact name of them?

Anything with Ecco GTX in the name...I got the Classic GTC in McGuirks before, about 170 I think.

/edit just checked and they dont seem to do them anymore...online might be your best bet, or one of the ecco shops around...one in blanch I think.
These are the ones I have,

    Thanks again ,very nice shoes.
Goin to have a look in Mcguirks tomorrow,
I have 185 euro credit on a pair of bioms that were faulty.maybe they can order the
gtx for me if they don't stock them!

    What size are you?
McGuirks in Blanch have a few pairs of 46 and some of 41 for about 100. Great bargain if you find a pair that fit...I had to stop myself from trying to wedge on the 41's :(

Was in there looking at them today , unfortunately I'm a 43 :-(

Thinking of pushing the boat out and getting the goretex bioms 240 euro yikes.
Was speaking to Ecco rep, they are apparently very scarce on the ground due to popularity.
He's getting back to me next week if he can source me a pair.

Mcguirks were trying to push me to another brand but I'm very reluctant to move from the eccos.

Cheers for your advice and help , appreciated.

    Im a 43 myself!
Looks like they have stopped making that price range/model.
Now its either hydromax ~100 or the world class goretex for 240!
    Its a a real pity, I loved those shoes...have 3 pairs!

Phone up O'Dwyers Golf and ask them what Ecco Gore-Tex sizes and styles they have left. I bought these for only €140 recently as I couldn't find any decently priced gore-tex Ecco anywhere. These are an old line but I didn't care. He had a number of different sizes and styles left. Shipped free to my door too. Just make sure you know your size in Ecco then you can buy online with confidence.

+1 on the Gore-Tex. You can swim in them and your feet stay dry, so this is the only shoe I wear. Normally get 3-4+ years out of them as well if you take care of them.

Thanks for that Kace, unfortunately I'm tied to mcguirks with a 185 euro credit note.
But great to hear that the goretex are the business, cheers.

MCGUIRKS have told me they will have the goretex ones in again beginning of Dec.
And will do me a good deal on them as I have waited so long, with the credit on my retuned faulty bioms.
Hope they are worth the wait :0)

    Hi,
Sorry a bit off topic i bought a pair of FJ sport in April and they are leaking already, do i just bring them back to the shop they are guaranteed water proof for a year and were €120. Does it matter what condition they are in they have normal enough wear and tear but i'm not big into doing much cleaning and polishing.

Bring them back, if they tell you to contact FJ directly quote the Sale of Goods & Supply of Services Act 1980. Your contract is with the shop and you are entitled to Repair, Refund or Replacement.
However if they are damaged (cut, torn, etc) then they dont have to cover them, normal wear and tear wouldnt cover holes/tears.

In regards to that, i've a pair of Adidas Tour 360's i picked up last february in American Golf. I'm getting wet around the toes, some of the lads say its from going into the rough looking for my ball and that the water is coming in around the tongue of the shoe. They pointed to the fact that the old golf shoes used to have a flap that covered the laces.

Should i bring them back, or is it my own fault for going off line?

    _____

Did a quick look online, apparently they can crack around the spikes on the balls of your foot. Checked this out, and voila. Rang American Golf, bring them back and we'll replace them.

You cant bring them back because water is getting in over the top of the shoe.
On "proper" waterproof shoes (like the ecco goretex in this post) the tongue is attached to the side of the shoe with goretex membrane so there is no where for the water to get in, unless it spills in where your ankle is. I have stood in a puddle with the water 1cm below my ankle and still bone dry.

The cracked sole is a common one though...

A cracked sole might be a common problem, but its a pain in the bum when you're paying €160 for a pair of shoes. I'm pretty sure my last pair of Tour 360's went that way aswell, but i wasn't quick enough to bring them back within the year.

I won't be caught a second time tho.

Returned a pair of these myself after having them for 1 month in the summer. Let in water the first day I was out in the rain. There was a heavy down pour during my round and thought that water may have trickled in around the tongue of the shoe from my wet-pants. But when they let in water the second time, I just brought them back. Was told that a lot of FJ Sports have been returned for this reason and that there was a problem with a lot of them. Swapped for Dry-Joys.
Had 2 pairs of Eccos GTX before that and have to agree that they are still the best shoe I've ever had. Just a problem with supply. Was told that one of the major factories supplying them in Asia was destroyed a year or so ago and that they haven't been able to meet demand since. Golfstyle in Galway haven't been able to get them in for the past number of months and only have limited sizes left.
