My 2008 Astra 1.3 diesel needs a new battery. I got some quotes today in local motor factors. Dynamic brand 69 euro incl vat. Bosch battery 76 incl vat. I was going to go with the Bosch would people say they are the best? I think there is a 3 or 4 year warranty on Bosch 2 years warranty on other. Would 76 euro sound about right for the price of a battery I know nothing about battery prices thats why I am asking?

€76 for the Bosch Seems resonable i would be more inclined than a Generic brand wont last as long.

Yeah, the Bosch sounds good. I'd go for that.

Bosch batteries are good and I'd always pay a little more from them until recently when I had a problem. A battery only two years old developed a faulty cell (diagnosed by a local battery supplier). The warranty on it was four years so I though the solution would be easy. Surprise! The company I bought from went out of business. I contacted Bosch U.K. directly and they told me to contact the Irish distributor who was, in fairness, very helpful. However it seems that the retailer is responsible for offering and honouring any warranty and Bosch has no part in it. The local distributor is still trying to help but if he is not re-imbursed by Bosch I can't expect him to do much. So beware of any warranty if it is not backed up by the manufacturer. In this case I would have been as well off getting el cheapo as just about any battery should last two or three years. I might give Yuasa a go from Halfords and hope for the best.
