Oireachtas debates are no longer being produced in XML format due to greater 'efficiency' according to an Oireachtas spokeswoman.

Great pity, and inexplicable, except that KildareStreet were relentless critics of the Oireachtas service which provided the feeds. They complained regularly and publicly on the site about formatting errors, and maintained a count of the number of days since they had received a set of error free data.

It would seem to be small-minded if the Oireachtas service had taken those criticisms to heart.

KildareStreet was a great help to those of us who wanted to keep up with the shenanigans of the department. The search and alert functions were terrific and saved a huge amount of time. The search functions on the Oireachtas site are now actually worse than they were before.

John Handelaar and co should have got an award for their work. Instead they met up with more thin-skinned pettiness.
